Foodservice providers are jumping on new vegan offerings. Aramark, one of the largest foodservice companies in the U.S., just announced it would bring the vegan Just Egg to hospital and college cafeterias for a limited time, beginning October 22. Made from mung beans, this plant-based egg alternative looks and scrambles up like traditional eggs but without the cholesterol, horrific animal suffering, and other problems associated with consuming animal products.

In a press statement, the company explains:

As a growing number of consumers look for options that are healthier, provide protein and are allergen-friendly, Aramark understands the great potential plant-based menu items, like those from Just Egg, has in helping meet these lifestyle and dietary needs, ultimately improving the way communities eat across the country.

This isn’t the first time Aramark has brought innovative new vegan products to customers. In August, the company announced plans to offer the all-vegan Beyond Burger at universities in an effort to increase the number of healthful, “plant-forward” vegan options at on-campus dining locations.

And it’s not just Aramark. Earlier this month, Sodexo (one of the largest foodservice providers in the world) added 200 new vegan meals to its roster in North America. The new plant-based menu includes some pretty enticing dishes, like Chesapeake Cakes, Kung Pao Cauliflower, Carrot Osso Bucco, and Smoky Black Bean Tamales.

This is great news. Since Sodexo and Aramark serve a wide variety of institutions—from corporate cafeterias and school dining halls to stadiums and military mess halls—more people than ever now have access to healthy vegan meals.

As more consumers learn about the vast cruelty inherent in animal agriculture, the popularity of vegan food will only continue to rise. From the savory new options popping up at restaurants to the slew of all-vegan eateries, there’s never been a better time to ditch cruel animal foods.
