Red Robin Announces Plan to Launch Impossible Burger at 570 Locations
Known as the vegan burger that “bleeds,” the Impossible Burger has earned a loyal fan base since its launch. In the past year, the mouthwatering meatless patty has debuted on thousands of restaurant menus around the world with much success.
Now, Red Robin has announced plans to launch the Impossible Burger at 570 locations throughout the U.S. starting on April 1. The Impossible Cheeseburger will come with typical cheeseburger toppings, but the plant-based patty can be swapped for the usual patty in any menu item. Customers can enjoy a completely plant-based burger by skipping the cheese and mayo and opting for a ciabatta bun or lettuce wrap.
In a press statement, Jonathan Muhtar, executive vice president and chief concept officer at Red Robin, explains the move:
Our fans expect variety, creativity and culinary innovation at Red Robin, so it was important for us to offer a plant-based option that appeals to traditional burger lovers, flexitarians, and everyone craving a delicious burger. The Impossible Cheeseburger is a high-quality offering our guests will love and marks a huge milestone for Red Robin.
Red Robin is now the largest restaurant partnership for the Impossible Burger, surpassing White Castle, which offers the burger at 377 locations.
But Red Robin isn’t the only chain adding Impossible meat to the menu. Just last month, Qdoba, a fast-casual chain known for its Mexican-inspired menu, announced plans to test vegan ground meat from Impossible Foods at select locations in Michigan. And in January, Moe’s Southwest Grill began testing Impossible Foods’ plant-based meat—as a swap for animal meat in all burritos, bowls, and tacos—at its Manhattan location.
