Earlier this year, Ocean Hugger Foods—a company famous for transforming roma tomatoes into mouthwatering raw vegan tuna known as Ahimi—began offering its plant-based tuna alternative in its grab-and-go sushi bar at 40 Whole Foods Market locations in 10 states!

Now, the company is partnering with Veestro, a popular vegan meal delivery service, to bring its delicious tomato sushi to the masses. This new offering, called the Ahimi Sushi Bowl, is available for delivery across the U.S., regardless of whether you have a subscription with the service.

VegNews explains:

The new entrée option, which can be ordered a la carte for a trial price of $5 without a Veestro subscription, features seaweed salad, daikon radish, carrots, edamame, brown rice, and is topped with a serving of vegan tuna alternative “ahimi.”

Lately it seems that more vegan alternatives to cruel animal foods are showing up on menus and store shelves all the time, including vegan seafood products. In fact, the market for vegan seafood is growing faster than ever before, and a recent Forbes article attests to this: “The vegan seafood category is ripe for exponential growth and we can expect to see even more players entering the market.”

“If you weren’t able to get your hands on it this time, stay tuned!” says Veestro. “We’ll let you know as soon as it’s back in stock.”

This move is great news for the countless aquatic animals who are abused and killed so that people can eat them. Like other animals, fish experience pain and possess complex social intelligence. Despite this, they are subjected to unthinkable cruelty by the fishing industry. And fishing is not only unspeakably cruel; commercial fisheries are one of the largest contributors to wild fish depopulation and destruction of vital aquatic ecosystems.

Fortunately, there are tons of tasty seafood alternatives already on the market. Order a FREE Vegetarian Starter Guide and learn more about leaving all animals, including aquatic animals, off your plate.
