Upton’s Announces New Vegan Jerky Line Coming in 2019

Upton’s Naturals is no stranger to delicious plant-based meats. Well-known for its seitan and jackfruit lines, this Chicago-based company recently announced plans to add vegan jerky to its offerings. Made with wheat protein, the new jerky will be available in four flavors inspired by global cuisine: Smoky Original, Tarragon Ginger Lime, Pineapple Pink Peppercorn, and Tamarind Pepperoni.

In a press statement the company shares:

These 100 percent vegan snacks offer a good source of protein (8–10 g per serving), an excellent source of B-12 and come in creative, tropical-inspired flavors set to tantalize taste buds. Made with a clean and simple ingredient list and clocking in at only 90–100 calories per serving, it’s more than okay to get your munchy-fix with this jerky treat.

Upton’s introduced its first seitan products in local Chicago stores back in 2006. The first company to bring seasoned, ready-to-eat jackfruit to North America and Europe, Upton’s has since been largely credited for the jackfruit boom.

In December, Upton’s announced that its products were being sold in over 5,000 stores across the U.S., including Whole Foods, Walmart, Wegmans, Sprouts, Safeway, and Stop & Shop. The company has also launched products in 15 countries, from the U.K. and Iceland to Chile!
