Taco Bell Is Testing a Vegan Crunchwrap with Plant-Based Beef and Nacho Sauce
|
It’s happening! Taco Bell is testing a fully vegan Crunchwrap complete with plant-based beef, dairy-free sour cream “blanco sauce,” and vegan nacho sauce. The groundbreaking new animal-free offering is available for a limited time at select Taco Bell locations in Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando. Here’s where you can get yours:
- Los Angeles: 6741 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028
- New York City: 976 Sixth Ave., New York, NY 10018
- Orlando: 11893 E. Colonial Dr., Orlando, FL 32826
Along with the new vegan-friendly adaptations, the Crunchwrap comes wrapped in its signature oversize flour tortilla with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. Missy Schaaphok, Taco Bell’s director of global nutrition and sustainability, stated:
We never want our vegan and vegetarian fans to feel like they have to compromise at Taco Bell. The goal while in product development was to create a vegan alternative that was just as craveable as the original, while also being equally convenient as a ready-to-order menu item with no modifications needed. The Vegan Crunchwrap took years to create, and we are confident that our fans will love the final product.
Taco Bell is already one of the most vegan-friendly fast-food restaurants out there. For easy ordering, customers can use the Taco Bell app’s “veggie cravings” option and then customize the menu items to leave out sour cream, cheese, and creamy chipotle sauce. Any menu item can also be ordered “fresco-style,” which veganizes it by replacing dairy products with pico de gallo.
Not a fan of fast food? That’s OK! We can all celebrate more plant-based options at accessible eateries. Whether someone is on a road trip and needs to grab a quick dinner, lives in a community with low food access, or just enjoys the convenience of fast food, everyone deserves an opportunity to choose a meal that’s kinder to animals. That’s why it’s so important for fast-food chains to add more plant-based menu items.
