Finally! Starbucks Unveils Vegan Cookie at All U.S. Locations
Starbucks recently unveiled a drool-worthy baked treat: a certified-vegan macadamia-oat cookie! Already available at many locations throughout the United States, this new cookie is part of the company’s plan to add more plant-based food options.
Starbucks describes the cookie:
Our vegan cookie includes oatmeal, macadamia nuts, almonds and coconut plus the delightful tang of dried cranberries. Scrumptious on its own and even better alongside a cup of coffee or tea.
Last November, Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson told Business Insider, “Plant-based beverages and alternatives [are a] big area of opportunity for us, and our customers are asking for it.” And the company is responding. In the past year, the chain has rolled out several drinks with dairy-free milk and a completely plant-based lunch bowl, announced plans for almond-milk versions of its famed bottled Frappuccinos (coming soon!), and even started selling vegan cupcakes at select Florida locations.
This should come as no surprise. Plant-based eating is more popular than ever. In a 2016 survey by Harris Poll on behalf of the Vegetarian Resource Group, 37 percent of the more than 2,000 people surveyed said they always or sometimes ate veg meals when they went out to restaurants. Restaurateurs and food producers are taking advantage of this expanding market by adding more plant-based options to their menus and product lines.
As we all know, a little praise and encouragement never hurts, so please take a moment to thank Starbucks and ask for even more vegan menu items! You can leave a Facebook message here.
