Starbucks has announced the release of a brand-new vegan-friendly seasonal drink: the Juniper Latte. Made with espresso, juniper syrup, and your favorite dairy-free milk, this latte is finished with a dusting of pine-citrus sugar—making for a fun holiday treat that’s completely plant-based.

Starbucks describes the Christmas tree-inspired drink on the brand’s Facebook page, saying, “Evergreen notes mingle with roasty warmth of espresso to create the winter wonderland that is the new Juniper Latte.”

Available for a limited time at U.S. and Canada locations, this new offering adds to the assortment of delicious dairy-free beverages on the Starbucks menu, including some of our seasonal favorites, listed below.

Vegan Holiday Drinks at Starbucks

Chestnut Praline Latte

Made with flavors of caramelized chestnuts and spices and topped with spiced praline crumbs—just ask your barista for soy, coconut, or almond milk and be sure to skip the whip!

Gingerbread Latte

The gingerbread syrup is 100 percent plant-based. Skip the cow’s milk and whipped cream and you’re set.

S’mores Hot Chocolate

This secret menu item adds the chestnut praline syrup (and sprinkles) to your hot chocolate for a campfire-inspired treat!

DIY Caramel Brulee Latte

Pick your favorite dairy-free milk, skip the caramel brulee sauce (it’s not vegan!), and add toffee nut AND caramel syrups. BONUS: The caramel brulee sprinkles are totally plant-based!

Christmas Cookie Frappuccino

Start with the Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino, add peppermint and toffee nut syrups, and sprinkle a raw sugar packet on top for this must-have secret menu item!

As more people discover the animal cruelty and vast environmental destruction inherent in milk production, they’re consuming less dairy or ditching it altogether in favor of plant-based foods.

Restaurateurs and food producers like Starbucks are taking advantage of this expanding market. In fact, in the past year the chain has rolled out two new vegan protein drinks and a completely plant-based lunch bowl, declared plans to offer an almond-milk version of its famed bottled Frappuccino, and even started selling a certified-vegan macadamia-oat cookie!

With the growing number of delicious vegan options already on restaurant and cafe menus far and wide, there’s never been a better time to make the switch. Here are our favorite veg offerings at chain restaurants near you.
