Last April, Don Lee Farms made headlines when it sold more than a million units of its new organic plant-based burger in under 60 days at Costco, making it the fastest-growing product in its category at the wholesale chain.

Now, Don Lee Farms has announced that its popular fresh burger is headed to the meat section at over 2,000 Kroger-owned markets this May, including Ralphs, King Soopers, and Fred Meyer.

Packed with protein and gluten-free, the vegan burger is the only one of its kind to be certified organic. In a press statement, Donald Goodman, president of Don Lee Farms, explains the partnership:

Working with Kroger has been a priority for us in our pursuit to expand to where our customers want us to be. With the addition of Kroger, we are bringing the fastest growing burger of its kind to nearly 2,000 locations in the United States. With both private label and branded, we are now in over 8,000 retail markets.

But this burger is not the only new product to look out for. Last month, Beyond Meat announced the latest addition to its product lineup: Beyond Beef. This completely plant-based ground beef boasts 25 percent less saturated fat than traditional beef and 20 grams of protein per serving. It is set to arrive at grocers later this year.

As more people discover the animal cruelty and vast environmental destruction inherent in animal agriculture, they’re eating fewer animal products or ditching them altogether in favor of plant-based foods. The expansion of Don Lee Farms to even more retailers is yet another sign.
