Nine Vegan Hacks for Your Favorite Fast-Food Restaurants
Let’s face it: Sometimes we start our days with a bowl of oatmeal, and sometimes we just need something greasy, fried, or quick.
Luckily, chain restaurants are racing to fill their menus with delicious plant-based options. KFC recently trialed an updated version of their Beyond Fried Chicken, and Starbucks began testing a breakfast sandwich made with plant-based meat. Just this month, White Castle’s vegan cheddar cheese launched in select locations.
These nine tasty vegan hacks will help you elevate the plant-based options at your favorite fast-food restaurants:
Dunkin’
Beyond Sausage Sandwich: Order the Beyond Sausage Sandwich without the eggs and cheese with a side of hash browns. Put the hash browns inside the sandwich and load up on ketchup—you’ll be amazed at how good it tastes!
Taco Bell
7-Layer Burrito: Order the 7-Layer Burrito without cheese and sour cream, but go ahead and add some potatoes and jalapeño to make it extra zesty.
Chalupa: Grab a chalupa, but order it fresco-style, replace the beef with beans, and add guacamole and potatoes.
Mexican Pizza: Replace the beef with refried beans, add potatoes, and ditch the cheese and sour cream for pico de gallo and guacamole!
Carl’s Jr.
Beyond Sausage Burrito: This is my favorite fast-food breakfast! Get the Beyond Sausage Burrito without the scrambled eggs or shredded cheese for a delightful blend of plant-based sausage, hash browns, tomatoes, and fresh salsa all served in a warm tortilla.
Beyond Famous Star Burger: Spice up this burger by ordering it without cheese or mayo and adding guacamole and jalapeños.
El Pollo Loco
Chipotle Chicken Avocado Burrito: Ask for the burrito without chicken, cheese, or sour cream, and add a side of broccoli or corn on the cob. It’s a full meal!
Domino’s
Veggie-Packed Pizza: This one is an oldie but goodie. Order a Domino’s thin-crust pizza without cheese and load up on all your favorite veggies. Order a side of garlic, barbecue, or sweet habanero dipping sauce for the crust!
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels
Auntie Anne’s original, cinnamon sugar, sweet almond, garlic, jalapeño, and raisin pretzels are all vegan if you order them without butter!
