WINNING! Vegan Restaurant Takes Over Burger King Drive-Thru

Plant Power Fast Food recently leased an old Burger King in Encinitas, California, transforming the former meat-promoting restaurant into a fully plant-based one! Food options include cholesterol-free, meat-free, and dairy-free versions of burgers, nuggets, mini corn dogs, and shakes. A breakfast menu and a kids menu are available as well. Some of the more popular items are The Big Zac (a take on the McDonald’s Big Mac) and the “chicken” and waffle sandwich.

Plant Power Fast Food is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (10 p.m. on Saturdays). Menu items are made from quality, fresh ingredients and range from $6.25 to $8.95.

“We’re demonstrating that outstanding taste, convenience, and wholesome food can be delivered in the fast-food format,” co-founder Zach Vouga told Escondido Grapevine. “This is a perfect location for a healthy drive-thru restaurant. We’ve taken a former Burger King and transformed it into a convenient oasis to enjoy a delicious plant-based meal.”

Certainly convenient are this location’s takeout service, walk-up, and outdoor dining area. Earlier this year the chain launched a mobile ordering app so customers can pick up their meals even quicker.

The first fully plant-based and GMO-free drive-thru in the United States, Plant Power Fast Food debuted in Ocean Beach, California, and now boasts two locations in the San Diego area. It joins the ranks of Amy’s, a vegetarian drive-thru with vegan options in the United States, and Globally Local, a fully vegan drive-thru in Canada.
