Plant-Based? Here Are 5 Baseball Stadiums Where You Can Get More Than Peanuts and Cracker Jacks
Thanks to a 1908 Tin Pan Alley song, baseball has become synonymous with peanuts and Cracker Jacks. For a long time, those were the only vegan options at professional stadiums across the country.
1. New York Yankees
Gothamist recently reported that the Guadalupe burger, a vegan black bean burger also sold at Bareburger, will join the ever-expanding vegetarian menu at Yankee Stadium this season. Served on a sprout bun, this plant-based burger comes topped with pickled red onions, spinach, guacamole, and spicy pico de gallo. The stadium also sells Field Roast hot dogs and burgers, vegan sushi, Hale & Hearty three lentil chili, garden salads, fries, and hot pretzels to enjoy while watching the Pinstripes battle the Red Sox.
2. Texas Rangers
Ballpark Vegan, a portable cart at Section 16 of Globe Life Park, boasts ample vegan options, including salads, Southwest black bean burgers, hot dogs, vegetable wraps with Beyond Chicken, chili, jerky, nachos, and more!
3. Minnesota Twins
Target Stadium’s Herbivorous Butcher stand, added for 2017, serves up vegan aloo gobi, Field Roast frankfurters and burgers, veggie burritos, veggie tacos, and more. You won’t miss the meat while chowing down on the vegan Sriracha brats and Italian sausages. Each is served with grilled onions.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers
If you live in LA, you’re no stranger to amazing vegan food. Why should ballparks be any different? In addition to veggie dogs and pretzels, Dodger Stadium offers a nice variety of vegan items, including Vietnamese rice and noodles, cookies, chopped salad, fries, and hummus dips. The item we’re most excited about? Vegan nachos with Follow Your Heart cheese! Delicious!
5. Arizona Diamondbacks
Vegan burgers and frankfurters are still on offer at Chase Field, but that’s not all you have to choose from! Try the Bisbee tamales (made with soy chorizo), veggie and fruit cups, blue corn tamales (made with squash), or the Kick’n Chick’n Wrap (made with Gardein chick’n and Follow Your Heart cheese). Pro tip: Add a slice of vegan Follow Your Heart pepper jack cheese and Vegenaise to your burgers!
If you don’t live near any of these stadiums, don’t fret! Twenty-five Major League Baseball stadiums offer vegan hot dogs. If you’re at a ballpark that doesn’t, you can always check with the general concessions management.
