Available for a limited time at Taco Bell’s Shanghai locations, the newly released plant-based OmniPork Crunchy Taco features meatless ground pork, lettuce, and Yu Xiang spicy sauce. While OmniPork is currently sold in Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, and Thailand, Taco Bell is the very first fast-food chain to offer it.

Green Monday, a Hong Kong-based group of restaurants and shops dedicated to promoting vegan eating in Asia, created OmniPork. Green Monday founder David Yeung said he developed OmniPork as a pork alternative for Asian customers, who tend to favor pig meat over other meats.

Taco Bell isn’t just experimenting with vegan meat in Asia! In May, the company launched a limited-edition menu featuring plant-based meat made from oats. Available in three London locations during National Vegetarian Week, The Edge Veggie Taco came with either classic or barbecue sauce and used Gold & Green Foods’ Pulled Oats vegan pork. The delicious meatless option is created from oats, pea protein, and fava bean protein. Jorge Torres, general manager of Taco Bell Europe, stated:

At Taco Bell, we pride ourselves on being a place where every lifestyle can find exactly what they’re craving. So, whether you’re a vegetarian or a flexitarian, then you’ll love our new flavorsome meat-free offering.

While Taco Bell has not tested plant-based meats in the United States yet, the chain does offer 26 vegan ingredients that are customizable in many different ways.

Here are some of our favorites:

The Seven-Layer Burrito

This burrito is loaded with rice, beans, guacamole, and a bunch of other good stuff! Be sure to leave off the cheese and sour cream.

The Crunchwrap

Ask for beans instead of beef, and ask for it “fresco-style”—they’ll replace the cheese and sour cream with pico de gallo!

The Double Decker Taco

Black beans instead of beef and guacamole instead of cheese. Done!

The Spicy Potato Soft Taco

Make it fresco-style! For some spice, try adding jalapeño peppers.

Cinnamon Twists

Don’t forget, these are totally plant-based and great when you need a little dessert.
