No one loves pizza quite like New Yorkers. Full pies or by the slice—New York City’s Brooklyn borough is home to countless pizza places. But one in particular—Screamer’s Pizzeria—has made a name for itself with its all-vegan pizzas and calzones.

The first completely plant-based pizzeria in New York City, Screamer’s opened in 2016 in the Greenpoint neighborhood. Now the owners plan to open a second Brooklyn location in Crown Heights! With the announcement came the news that the pizzeria currently sells a whopping 1,500 slices daily.

VegNews explains:

The new, 1,800-square-foot location will seat 30 guests and serve classics such as Sicilian-style Grandma Pie, Buffalo Cauliflower, Baked Ziti, Italian meatball and eggplant parmesan sub sandwiches, and fried lasagna sticks. The shop will also feature special pizzas topped with mac and cheese, chik’n and curly fries, and Philly cheesesteak.

Vegan pizza is here to stay.

While there are several all-vegan pizzerias around the country, more and more traditional pizza places are realizing the importance of vegan menu options. You can now get a totally plant-based pie, complete with ooey, gooey vegan cheese, at quite a few pizza places, including zPizza, Mellow Mushroom, PizzaRev, Blaze Pizza, and Pie Five.

As more people discover the animal cruelty and vast environmental destruction inherent in milk production, they’re eating less dairy or ditching it altogether in favor of plant-based foods. Restaurateurs are taking advantage of this expanding market by adding more vegan options to their menus.

With the growing number of delicious vegan options already on restaurant menus far and wide, there’s never been a better time to add more veg meals to your diet.
