As vegan eating continues to grow in popularity, more restaurants are willing to add plant-based options to their menus. But one of the last places most vegans would think to look for a tasty plant-based meal is a steakhouse—but that’s quickly changing.

Al Biernat, owner of two steakhouses in the Dallas area, has announced plans to add a vegan menu to his upscale meat-heavy restaurants! After trying a variety of plant-based foods at local businesses—including the beloved vegan Spiral Diner—Biernat was inspired to bring delicious animal-free food to his customers.

VegNews reports:

Biernat’s current vegan menu includes four upscale dishes: portobello mushroom enchiladas topped with coconut-based cheese; linguine pasta loaded with vegetables and seitan; an Italian stack made with Tofurky sausage, grilled vegetables, and vegan cheese; and Al’s Bowl loaded with vegetables and rice.

This news follows a recent study finding that an impressive 51 percent of chefs in the U.S. have added plant-based menu items in 2018 alone, a 31 percent increase over the previous year.

As more people discover the horrific animal suffering and environmental degradation inherent in the meat industry, they’re ditching meat and other animal products in favor of plant-based foods. Restaurateurs are taking advantage of this increasingly profitable market by adding more vegan options to their menus.

With so much delicious vegan food at restaurants around the globe, there has never been a better time to switch to a compassionate plant-based lifestyle. Ready to give veg eating a shot?
