As sales of vegan yogurt continue to grow, traditional dairy-based brands are jumping on the vegan wagon. Most recently, Greek yogurt brand Chobani announced a dairy-free line of yogurt cups and drinks made from coconut cream.

Packed with probiotics, this new line offers a variety to choose from. Fast Company explains:

In the company’s R&D lab, a million-square-foot facility in Idaho that is the largest yogurt testing facility in the world, a team spent months developing hundreds of iterations of the product. The resulting new line, with five flavors of non-dairy cups and four flavors of non-dairy drinks, uses a coconut base. That choice came in part from the fact that the best-selling yogurt, the company’s “Almond Coco Loco,” also uses coconut, and Chobani knew that consumers liked the flavor.

This news from Chobani comes on the heels of new market research from Fact.MR that shows vegan yogurt sales increased by 30,000 metric tons in 2018.

Many companies are eager to capitalize on this rapid growth. In December, Danone—the world’s largest yogurt maker—announced that it would add a vegan yogurt line called Good Plants under its Light & Fit brand. The company also announced a new vegan line of Oikos, a popular Greek yogurt brand. Launching this month, the new offerings will be made with almond milk and coconut milk, respectively.

This news isn’t surprising. Dairy consumption has been on the decline for decades, with each generation consuming less milk than the one before. This is great news for cows. At dairy factory farms, cows are roughly handled, forcibly impregnated, and kept in horrid conditions.
