Cauliflower Manchuria
- 2 lbs (1 kg) cauliflower, cut into big chunks
- 1 inch (2 cm) ginger
- 5 garlic cloves
- 6 green chilies, ground to a paste
- 1 teaspoon anise seed
- salt
- corn flour
- oil for frying

Bring a pot of water to boil. Parboil cauliflower and drain the water away. Put the ground ingredients with the salt into a bowl and mix well. Rub the ground ingredients onto the cauliflower pieces and leave aside to marinate for about 1 hour. Heat oil for frying. Dust marinated cauliflower pieces with corn flour and deep fry till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot preferably with soy sauce as a dip. Note: If chilies are not available, use 2 tsps of ground paprika or 1 tsp ground black pepper. |
