This Vegan Ground Beef Is Coming to a Store Near You in 2019
With plant-based burgers that “bleed” and game-changing vegan sausages making headlines for months, it should come as no surprise that yet another amazing vegan product is headed to store shelves. This time? An all-vegan ground beef alternative.
The Meatless Farm, a relatively new plant-based startup, recently debuted its products—which include meat-free mince and burgers—at U.K. grocery chain Sainsbury’s. Now they have announced plans to expand distribution of the products around the world. Hungry vegans and meat reducers in New Zealand, Australia, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States can expect to see the products on store shelves in as soon as six months!
The Meatless Farm founder Morten Toft Bech tells an industry publication:
We have spent the past two years developing a product that is delicious and unique in its category. We are entering the market at a time when demand is growing and meat-free alternatives are becoming increasingly mainstream. We champion texture and taste, offering an everyday solution for the U.K.’s 22 million flexitarians who want to enjoy favorite family dishes still but eat a little less meat, alongside catering for vegetarians and vegans who are looking for tasty alternatives.
In addition to being healthier and more compassionate than meat, these alternatives are some of the most affordable—the vegan ground beef alternative sells for $3.95, and the plant-based burgers sell for $3.29.
