Beloved U.K. chef Jamie Oliver is joining forces with television presenter and childhood friend Jimmy Doherty in a new special that will focus exclusively on plant-based foods! While the program, Jimmy and Jamie’s Friday Night Feast, has featured vegan dishes in the past, this will be the show’s first all-vegan episode, encouraging viewers to eat “less or no meat”!

Vegan parkour athlete Tim Shieff posted about the episode on this Instagram account:

While Oliver hasn’t always been known as an advocate of plant-based cooking, in May he began encouraging his fans to try vegan and vegetarian eating through his five-day veggie challenge, in honor of National Vegetarian Week. The challenge asked people to eat more veggies while reducing or eliminating their consumption of animal products.

On his website, he explained the move:

With this challenge, I want to inspire everyone—veggies and meat-lovers alike—to embrace the wonderful world of veg, every day! Knowing how to make veg and fruit the stars of the show is such an exciting way to cook. Launching the challenge is also about connecting people in kitchens across the country on a veggie journey, sharing tips, reacting and discovering new things together—I can’t wait!

This new special is yet another sign of the times and promises to bring vegan eating to an even wider audience.

Research continues to prove that a nutritious plant-based diet is beneficial for your health. In fact, scientists have shown that a plant-based diet reduces one’s risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. And researchers at the Mayo Clinic found that long-term vegetarians lived on average 3.6 years longer than their meat-eating counterparts.

In addition to harming our health, meat is literally killing our planet and causing unthinkable animal suffering. Click here to learn more about transitioning to a healthy, delicious, and kind vegan diet.
